Bridgecaster was established in 2020 by long-time friends and colleagues, James Griffin and Stuart Hawkins. A family-run construction company based in Seaton, East Devon, we have a wealth of experience in construction and project management, and we're dedicated to achieving the highest standards and quality in every project we undertake.
Although James and Stuart are the driving-force behind the business, Bridgecaster benefits from the experience and expertise of a tried and trusted group of skilled-professionals and a network of reputable consultants, ensuring every project is handled with the utmost care, professionalism, and that all-important personal touch.
James started in the building trade as a trainee carpenter in 2012 after graduating with a BSc degree from a university in Hampshire. Working for an accomplished construction company based in Southampton James was involved in a wide variety of building projects improving his knowledge and skills within the trade. After 2yrs away travelling in 2016 with his now wife, they decided to make the move down to Devon.
An exciting opportunity presented itself to acquire a plot of land in Seaton. After getting an offer accepted for the land, James reached out to a former colleague and close friend Stuart to help with the construction of the new property.
After a successful first project it was decided to go on and create their own construction and property development company ‘Bridgecaster’. The vision is now to go on and build more quality houses and extensions for others to enjoy.
James is very passionate about all aspects of his work and has the desire not only to create outstanding builds but to ensure Bridgecaster is a company that cares not only for its employees but also has a reputation of producing outstanding work.
Now with a growing portfolio of new builds and completing an RICS certificate for project management in construction James hopes to continue to grow his skills and reputation within Bridgecaster. Outside of work James enjoys exploring the UK and beyond in his camper van with his wife and daughter.
Stuart has 25 years’ experience within the construction industry, starting out as a carpenter’s apprentice at the age of 18 and trained to an NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry and Joinery.
He soon became lead carpenter on numerous projects within a reputable construction company, including renovations, extensions, restorations, and loft conversions along with other general carpentry roles.
Stuart is able to turn his hand to many trades and it wasn’t long before he was promoted to a Foreman/Site manager’s role due to his broad knowledge of all aspects of the construction industry, quality workmanship, attention to detail, and his ability to form strong relationships with clients, colleagues and other professional services. He successfully managed projects of various sizes from small extensions to large renovation and restoration projects, and everything in between! It was whilst he was in this role that he met James.
It was a natural progression for Stuart to venture into property development and there was no-one better suited for him to partner with than James. With their complementary skills, shared work ethic and vision, Bridgecaster was formed and quickly thrived. The care and attention that goes into each project and the quality of a finished build is a testament to the strength of their partnership.
